Paper overview
Abstract
Computer Science enrollments have been dropping for years. Although they currently show a slight uptick in enrollments, it cannot be foretold if this will lead to increased number of Computer Science graduates, or that the increased numbers will be sustained. Computer Science graduates are overwhelmingly males, mostly white and Asian. Women, women of color and men of color earn less than 15% of Computer Science degrees. In the meantime, The Bureau of Labor Statistics show rapid growth in fields that require a degree in Computer Science. We do not have enough white and Asian males to keep up with demand. One obvious solution to produce a strong domestic work force is to recruit more women into Computer Science.
