SYNTAX COMPLEXITY INDEX OF THE TEXT IN THE SITUATION OF ARTIFICIAL BILINGUALISM

The article provides an overview of Russian and foreign linguistic studies of the last decade in the field of syntactic organization of the text, examples of the terms “syntactic complexity”, “difficulty”,” readability” of the text are given. Based on the above theoretical review, the author offers his own definition of the syntactic complexity of a foreign language text. The author defines the parameters of the syntactic complexity of a foreign language text in situation of artificial bilingualism: readability and syntactic interference. The author proposes a formula for calculating the syntactic complexity index of a foreign language text in educational conditions, as complementary to existing formulas for calculating readability, and examples of assessing the complexity of educational texts using the derived formula given. These studies can be used in didactics in the preparation of educational and control materials, as well as for other linguistic studies of the text.
