Abstract
Russian artists' paintings are considered in this article in the process of forming the communicative competence of foreign students studying Russian as a foreign language. The paintings of Russian artists have a high degree of regional and cultural information content, which allows them to use their lexical composition as a detailed verbal interpretation in almost all the topics studied, in accordance with levels A2 – B1. According to the linguocognitive point of view, the scenario information processing mechanisms linking the content and format of the visualized message are objectified by a new ethno-cultural content created in the verbalization space. The use of paintings in RCT classes also helps to stimulate the communicative and cognitive needs of international students, providing them with communication skills relevant to understanding foreign cultural discourse. The research described in the article is aimed at identifying the effectiveness of using works of fine art as additional educational material to deepen the cultural context and increase motivation to learn Russian in a foreign audience.
