Abstract
Due to the health emergency caused by COVID-19, Peruvian universities and the tutoring program at the Faculty of Psychology of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) incorporated Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to continue its activities. The context of this pandemic did not alter the main goals of the tutoring program nor the activities previously scheduled for the first academic semester of 2020. Consequently, it was necessary to explore tutors’ perceptions of ICT implementation and observed changes in students’ well-being through a survey. Tutors’ responses suggest that they have had to offer support to tutees dealing with atypical events in diverse life domains, such as losses and grief, economic difficulties and coping with uncertainty. Despite this particular context, 98% of surveyed tutors (N = 48) felt satisfied with online tutoring and showed willingness to continue through this modality. While advantages and disadvantages of online tutoring are reported, participants acknowledge that the tutoring program aims to effectively support students’ well-being.
