Abstract
Blockchain technology (BCT) predominates in secure economic transactions for decades and has been successfully added value to the supply chain networks in various sectors such as food, healthcare, insurance sectors, etc. However, there are very a few blockchain studies that have been focused on its adoption in sustainable supply chain management (SCM) areas, especially in manufacturing industry. This study aims to understand BCT implementation in facilitating manufacturing industries’ sustainable performance. Thus, it will scrutinize blockchain’s key attributes and potential in manufacturing supply chains such as the applications and impact. Potential support for a sustainable supply chain in manufacturing context includes improving transparency and traceability. The technology-organization-environment (TOE) theory is identified to investigate blockchain adoption in sustainable manufacturing supply chains. This exploratory study proposes a conceptual framework of blockchain implementation on sustainable manufacturing supply chains. The significance of this study is that it will inspire practitioners to consider blockchain adoption in manufacturing sustainability in the future at a practical level and organizations will obtain a greater understanding of blockchain in a sustainable manufacturing supply chain. Also, it contributes the theoretical knowledge of BCT in sustainable manufacturing industry for the researchers.<br/>
