Research on a Blended Teaching Mode Design Focused on Students’ Language Output in the Course of Selected Reading of English Newspapers and Periodicals

This article aims to investigate a more efficient blended teaching mode to strengthen students’ language output through a project-based and content-based course design in the course of Selected Reading of English Newspapers and Periodicals. With the assist of WeChat-based Teachermate platform and web-based interaction and evaluation tools, the output-oriented English newspaper reading course successfully combines the technology application and language-learning together to realize an effective teaching situation. By designing a series of output-oriented tasks and conducting a variety of big data researches, both students and teachers pursue not only language proficiency, but also other skills and capacities like information-processing ability, media knowledge and skills, etc. to fit into this information-and-news explosion era.
