Paper overview
Abstract
This article set out to design metadata management model and metadata terms and controlled vocabulary for successful management, sharing, and reuse of research data. We suggest three-layer metadata model for research data and repository management, and design metadata terms for each layer accordingly. For collections, items and files, we mostly use terms from DCMI and DataCite schema; for the repository itself, we use RIF-CI and re3data.org schemas. The results of this study can help researchers and organizations take a system approach to establish a metadata schema for data storage and reuse. It can further be applied to integrated management and sharing of research data.
