Abstract

The article discusses the nature and characteristics of Computational Agents (CAs), defining them as entities that perceive their environment and act upon it through sensors and actuators based on a classic book. The text explores the autonomy of CAs, highlighting that although they can perform complex tasks without human intervention, they do not possess intelligence in the human sense. The work also addresses the evolution of CAs with the introduction of computational and artificial intelligence tools, which expand their capabilities but do not alter their non-conscious essence. Additionally, the article emphasizes the importance of ethical responsibility among programmers in creating these agents, especially in multi-agent environments where collaboration and trust between agents become crucial. Furthermore, the study lists a range of tools to support agent development. Finally, the study proposes guidelines to ensure the identification and authentication of algorithms, aiming to guarantee accountability for the behaviors of CAs.
