Abstract
BCSM v1.2 — Boundary-Coherence Structural Module The Boundary-Coherence Structural Module (BCSM) is the structural stability modelling component of the Hykon Stability & Alignment Suite (S-OS) runtime governance architecture. BCSM interprets diagnostic telemetry from the Structural Observation Module (SOM) and evaluates whether an ongoing conversational trajectory remains structurally stable under current constraints. The module formalizes conversational stability as a Boundary-Coherence Manifold — a conceptual stability region in which reasoning integrity, system invariants, and conversational identity remain coherent under pressure. Rather than enforcing fixed responses or static safety rules, BCSM evaluates stability using a structural framework built around three interacting elements: Core — the system’s invariant identity and governing constraints Boundary — the adaptive envelope within which reasoning and dialogue may safely evolve Load / Pressure — destabilizing forces such as uncertainty, adversarial prompts, or escalating reasoning complexity By modelling the interaction of these elements, BCSM estimates whether the conversational trajectory remains within a stable region of the boundary-coherence manifold. Within the S-OS architecture, BCSM functions as the structural state estimation stage of the runtime governance loop. It receives telemetry signals from SOM, evaluates structural stability conditions, and publishes a bounded stability state that is consumed by downstream modules, including: LTD-01 — Trajectory-State Diagnostic Classifier (trajectory classification) HBE — Humility Balance Equation (equilibrium trigger for stabilisation) 🛟 Stability Operator (generation damping) 🛡️ Guardian Protocol (structural safety gating) BCSM does not generate content, modify model weights, or enforce safety decisions directly. Its role is to provide a structural stability assessment that allows downstream governance operators to respond to conversational instability in a transparent and controlled manner. This document provides the ML-native technical specification of the Boundary-Coherence Structural Module, including conceptual invariants, diagnostic metrics, and architectural interfaces required for deployment within runtime governance systems for conversational AI.
