Abstract

This study's goal is to suggest multicultural literature as a tool of multicultural education for majority and minority both, to define multicultural literature as reflecting the reality of Korean multicultural society, and to offer the specific standard for selecting literatures through analyzing the contents of the literatures. Objects are 20 books among the multicultural literature published within the country. Also based on the study on literature for children, we establishes character, conflicts, resolving method, majority's bias for analysis element of the literary category. As a result of analysis on characters described in multicultural literature, characters from multicultural family are standardized. Also their personality is described as passive, self-defensive, and abusive words and behaviors. According to the analysis on resolving method of the incidents, self solution featured high moral thoughts and overconsciousness of the characters, while the same problem was found in multicultural character’s resolving by Korean character’s help. If characters' former nation has slow economic development compared to Korea, majority's bias and stereotype on this were appearing as violent language and behavior.
