Paper overview
Abstract
The paper analyzes the sociological and cultural prerequisites for the emergence of the modern novel, which was destabilized in the eighties and nineties of the 20th century, at the time of the transition from a modern to a postmodern way of thinking. The opposition between aesthetic and didactic in literature, then between high and mass culture, as well as the sustainability of the canonical order of world literature is emphasized. In addition, the impact of such changes on the status of children’s literature at the beginning of the 21st century is discussed.
