Abstract
The modern stage of scientific and technological progress is marked by the growing process of creation and spread of digital technologies in various spheres of social life, where the implementation of functions that were previously in the sphere of direct human responsibility is now carried out with the help of technological innovations. This fact opens up a wide range of perspectives in the life of society. However, now that the initial euphoria associated with positive expectations from the use of intelligent technologies has waned, the cost component of the exploitation of artificial intelligence, based on the resources it consumes, is coming to the fore. The active spread and the increase in the size of artificial intelligence systems form the necessity of conscious monitoring of their resource consumption and environmental impact. There is a growing realization in the scientific community that modern technological development, along with possible social benefits, is capable of generating side effects that have a resourceconsuming and environmental dimension. The presented article is devoted to this problem.
