Paper overview
Abstract
Prototypes in iterative design take many different forms and serve a variety of purposes. From an engineering point of view, evolutionary prototypes are the most challenging because they must be based on a sound software architecture. In the literature, there are only few design recommendations for their systematic development. The paper presents a checklist for designing integrated evolutionary and exploratory prototypes. The approach is based on the idea of underdesign and on supporting object-oriented design principles, concepts and patterns. A case study is presented that shows the applicability of the proposed checklist at the example of a multi-touch editor.
