Abstract
The psychodrama technique is a psychotherapy technique based on action. Psychodrama was initially limited to the clinical setting as a type of group psychotherapy, yet nowadays it can be applied to individual therapy; diagnosis and treatment in clinics, educational tools in educational institutions, human relationships, industry, marriage and family counseling, and it has evolved into a therapy technique that allows psychotherapists to work with both children and adults. This practice of individual psychodrama is called monodrama. Literary knowledge about psychodrama applications has increased over the years, however, the literature on monodrama practices is still limited. This case may have been caused by the general psychotherapy community accepting psychodrama as only a type of group psychotherapy, which would result in lesser awareness regarding monodrama applications. Within the small number of case reports on monodrama applications and observational studies regarding the technique, it is emphasized that its therapeutic effect is high and it is emphasized that there is a need for further research on the subject. This paper is aimed to review the features of the monodrama technique, to discuss which cases can benefit from its applications, and to discuss its advantages and disadvantages when compared to group applications, in the light of literature.
