Abstract

Integrating modern technologies within the zoo industry enhances visitor experiences by making them more interactive, informative, and personalized. This paper examines developing and implementing a personal zoo assistant application that leverages GPS, NFC, augmented reality, and machine learning technologies. The application effectively addresses common challenges zoo visitors face, including missed feeding times, navigating intricate paths, and accessing detailed information about various animals. The proposed solution incorporates features such as personalized tours based on user preferences, real-time notifications for events, AR representations of animals, and route planning powered by machine learning algorithms. Developed using cross-platform tools like Dart and Flutter, the application ensures compatibility with iOS and Android devices. It utilizes Firebase for backend services, alongside Azure ML .NET for machine learning functionalities. The user interface is crafted to be intuitive and engaging, particularly for children, with professional voice-over narration to enhance the educational experience. The project circumvents dedicated hardware costs and logistical challenges using visitors’ smartphones. This research illustrates how adopting advanced technologies in zoos can significantly improve visitor satisfaction and engagement, providing a model for other institutions looking to modernize their offerings.
