The expansion and deployment of cloud computing and equally development for the emergent large data centers (DC) have created energy demands which presents several challenges: including environmental and operational challenges across the globe. As everyone is using internet services so as demand for cloud-based services increases, optimizing the usage of energy in data centers has become a tedious job and area of focus for both researchers as well as industry professionals. The article focuses on in-depth analysis for energy-efficient strategies with good tactics aimed at minimizing the consumption of power in cloud data centers. The different techniques have been analyzed in this analysis such as virtual machine (VM) placement, consolidation, dynamic task scheduling, and resource management, all of which contribute towards our target of designing energy efficient cloud data centers and optimizing its operations. Furthermore, the integration of renewable energy resources along with thermal-aware data placement approaches are discussed in this study to highlight sustainable as well meta-heuristic algorithms and identifies key areas for improvement and potential future directions in energy-efficient cloud computing. The experimental comparison analysis from different studies of good, reputed journal articles demonstrates the effectiveness of the above discussed approaches which shows 10%-40% reduction of energy consumption of data centers. Hence our findings contribute to advancing the development of energy efficient cloud computing by ensuring that future data centers can fulfil the growing demand for energy efficient cloud data centers.
