A dynamical system is chaotic when a small change in the initial conditions leads to substantially different behavior. Chaos is seemingly opposite to the typical agenda of Quantum Information Science, which is mainly concerned with accurate design and predictions of system dynamics to implement quantum computing and quantum communication. In contrast to this intuition, the simplest instance of chaotic behavior can be found in a very simple setup, that involves only entangled states preparation and direct measurements. • The simplest chaotic map can be modeled with the simplest quantum entangled system. • A recursive non-invertable process leads to discrete chaotic dynamics of entanglement. • The process involves only quantum state preparations and direct measurements.
