Abstract Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly influencing the education sector, especially professional and skill-based courses like tourism. The tourism industry requires students to develop technical skills, communication abilities, problem-solving skills, and customer service competence. This study focuses on understanding the impact of AI on the skill development of tourism students. AI-based tools such as virtual tours, chatbots, online booking systems, and data analysis platforms help students gain practical knowledge and real-world experience. These tools make learning more interactive and improve students’ confidence and decision-making skills. AI also supports personalized learning by identifying students’ strengths and weaknesses and providing suitable learning content. The study highlights that AI helps tourism students develop digital skills, analytical thinking, language proficiency, and professional behaviour. At the same time, it also emphasizes the importance of balancing AI usage with human skills like empathy, cultural understanding, and interpersonal communication. The findings suggest that proper use of AI can enhance learning quality and prepare tourism students for future industry challenges.
