Abstract - Cloud computing has transformed modern IT by offering scalable, flexible, and cost-efficient access to data storage and computational power, but its rapid adoption has also introduced serious cybersecurity challenges. As organizations across industries increasingly rely on cloud services, issues such as data breaches, unauthorized access, misconfigurations, insecure APIs, insider threats, and ransomware have become more frequent and complex. Since 2020, accelerated digital transformation and remote work have further expanded the attack surface, making cloud environments more vulnerable than ever. This paper reviews major cloud security threats and recent research developments, including zero-trust architectures, multi- factor authentication, AI-driven threat detection, automated compliance, privacy-preserving encryption, container and API security, and Develops practices. It also examines the benefits and limitations of these solutions while identifying the gaps that still hinder secure cloud adoption. By summarizing current trends and highlighting future research directions, this study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how organizations can strengthen security, enhance resilience, and build trustworthy cloud systems in an evolving cyber landscape.
