In recent years, emotion detection in text has become increasingly popular due to its potential applications in marketing, political science, psychology, human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, and more. Access to vast amounts of textual data, especially unique and self-printing texts, has also played a special role in attracting attention to the field. This article reviews the research that has been done to identify emotional or sentimental expressions in text, and many techniques, methods, and models have been developed to identify sentiment in text. There is a great improvement in the design and architecture of models in past decade. This article covers current developments in emotion identification in texts and offers useful insights for academics and practitioners working in this field.
