Agent-Based Modeling is a technique oriented to representing, modelling and explaining complex systems in a variety of domains. Cognitive agents comprise a computational tool capable of modelling aspects of human behaviour from individuals to crowds. Disaster-Rescue simulations represent a challenging and socially relevant domain where cognitive agents still have not been applied extensively despite being a promising approach for developing realistic simulations. In this paper, a multi-agent system applied to the Disaster-Rescue domain involving cognitive agents based on the Belief-Desire-Intention architecture is presented. The system aims to bridge the gap in the integration of two major platforms in the field of Agent-Based Modeling and Belief-Desire-Intention multi-agent systems, namely, Jason and NetLogo.
