Photonic Decision Making for Solving Bandit Problem Using Laser Network

We propose a scheme of photonic decision making for solving the multi-armed bandit problem using semiconductor laser network as photonic accelerators. We numerically demonstrate that we can solve different bandit problems using the proposed scheme.

Optically implemented neural networks promise faster speeds and lower costs. However, large size networks remain challenging. We derive how to emulate a deep neural network with just a single nonlinear element using delayed feedback signals.
