Abstract

Abstract. This study presents a historical analysis of the development of archival education in the USSR between 1931 and 1957. The research examines the key stages in the formation of a professional training system for archivists, taking into account the influence of state ideology, socioeconomic changes, and wartime events on educational content and teaching methods. Special attention is given to the establishment and evolution of the Moscow State Historical-Archival Institute (MGIAI), including its curricula, research directions, and practical aspects of personnel training during the formation of the Soviet archival system. The study also explores the challenges and achievements in theoretical and practical archival science, as well as the impact of historical events on the organization of educational processes. The findings reveal the continuity of Soviet traditions in modern Russian archival education and identify relevant lessons for professional training in the context of digital transformation.
