Abstract
The article is devoted to the great educators and organizers of the public education in Russia, whose activities and thoughts remain relevant these days. Their enlightening activity is imbued with love towards motherland and reflects patriotic nature. Besides, their practical methods and ideas may and have to be used in the reformation of science and education of the modern Russia, they need to be directed towards conservation of national traditions and advantages in preparing highly professional specialists with wide area of knowledge, scientific personnel with capabilities for fundamental researches.
