The use of Vocabulary Instruction at Junior High School

Vocabulary knew as the most basic aspect in language or could be called as the genesis of the language. Furthermore, in EFL the vocabulary teaching is crucially important. The researcher realizes this factor and interested to research an approach in vocabulary instruction which is form-focus instruction or FFI. FFI itself may be applied in the integrated isolated approach. Then, the researcher interested to know what kind of vocabulary instruction are the teachers used in the classroom and how do the teachers implement the vocabulary instruction in the classroom at junior high School Ibnu Mas’ud Puteri Kandangan. The researcher used qualitative method which is used the descriptive technique. The researcher used observation and interview as the technique of data collection. The research subject was two teacher which and the observation was conducted in three classes.The result showed that the vocabulary instruction or more specific FFI already used in the classroom and used in integrated approach which is focused on meaning. Although, the teachers did not know well the vocabulary instruction theory they already understand the concept. The implementation itself by always giving feedback on the meaning side while the teaching and learning activity.
