Abstract

The purpose of this study describes whether
\nthe cause of preservation of ancient manuscripts
\nin the Radya Pustaka Museum less attention and
\nwhether efforts in preserving the manuscripts in
\nthe Radya Pustaka Museum. The method used
\nin this study is through observation and interviews
\nwith the staffs at Radya Pustaka Museum,
\nas well as document analysis. It was concluded
\nthat: Factors that may cause less noticeable preservation
\nof manuscripts in the Radya Pustaka
\nMuseum, namely: (a) The absence of a specific
\nbudget for this Radya Pustaka Museum. (b) No
\nspecific timetable for the preservation of ancient
\nmanuscripts, museum conservation only if there
\nis free time alone and the absence of a structured
\nschedule. (c) Human resources or manpower to
\ninadequate preservation activities in the preservation
\nof ancient manuscripts. In the museum
\nthere is dedicated space Radya Pustaka Museum
\nfor preservation and conservation. In the room
\nthere is a tool for conservation. However, this
\nroom is rarely used in preservation. Both efforts
\nin preserving ancient manuscripts in the Radya
\nPustaka Museum namely: (a) To provide a box
\nfor text files and compiled on the shelf. Then
\ngiven a classification number in each file box, for
\neasy in and easy rack rediscovered manuscript in preparation required. (b) In collaboration with
\nthe National Library to carry out activities in
\nthe fumigation of ancient texts, but it will take
\nquite a long time. (c) Increasing the ban to hold
\nthe original script or carik script, Radya Pustaka
\nMuseum visitors can only hold or read the tedhakan
\nscript (copy).
