Abstract
Objective To analyze the needs for on-the-job training of different nursing staff and provide a reference for developing targeted training plans in Class Ⅲ hospitals by investigating the status quo of on-the-job training of nursing staff. Methods Totally 281 nurses were selected from a Class Ⅲ hospital in Changchun by stratified random sampling from January to February 2017 and investigated with training status questionnaire and training need questionnaire for nursing staff. Totally 281 questionnaires were distributed, and 277 valid questionnaires were collected. Results All the 277 subjects attended on-the-job training, and 84.5% of them attended such training by hospital training; training methods were mainly joint teaching and nursing rounds of related departments (65.0%) and lectures (59.2%) ; and evaluation methods were mainly theoretical examination (93.5%) and operational examination (92.4%) . Nursing staff preferred to be trained by specialized training class (77.6%) , and had huge needs for operational demonstration (60.1%) and case analysis (56.3%) . 50.9% of the nursing staff considered connected examination results and performance as the most efficient evaluation method. Nursing staff with different age, working years, professional titles and educational background have different needs for training content, and there were statistically significant differences between them (P<0.05) . Conclusions Currently, hospitals cannot satisfy the needs of nursing staff in terms of training form, method, frequency and result evaluation. Hospitals need to provide targeted training based on the training needs for knowledge, skill, attitude and values of nursing staff with different characteristics.
